It’s going to be a blast as unbeaten Trash Pandas open with 6-game homestand this week

The Rocket City Trash Pandas bring home an opening three-game winning streak, a first in Trash Pandas history, to Toyota Field Tuesday night for its first home opener and a six-game homestand this season. Catch them Tuesday through Easter Sunday, April 12-17.

The 2022 baseball season gets swinging in the Rocket City against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.

Josh Caray, the voice of the Trash Pandas will be on 103.9 FM The UMP, and on 730 AM SportsRadio. The game is also televised locally on WAAY-31.

The gates open Tuesday (April 12), Wednesday (April 13), Friday (April 15) and Saturday (April 16) at 5 p.m. for VIPs and at 5:30 for the public. On Thursday, April 14, the VIP gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the public gates open at 5:30 p.m. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. all five days.

On Sunday, VIP gates open at 1 p.m. and the public gates open at 1:30 p.m. First pitch is at 2:35 p.m.

Opening Night, Tuesday, April 12

Tuesday is opening night with Pat Jamar performing on the Inline Electric Rock Porch from 5-6:30 p.m.

Fans should get to their seats early before both teams are introduced along the foul lines as part of the opening night festivities beginning at 6:15 p.m.

It is also Ladies Night where ladies can win great prizes and all fans can enjoy drink specials at the Bullpen Bar in the outfield.

The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra will perform the national anthem and the Redstone Composite Squadron, Civil Air Control will present the colors with a special flyover from the 160th Night Stalkers military group.

Madison Academy graduate, former Auburn football player and NFL running back Kerryon Johnson will throw the ceremonial first pitch at 6:35 p.m.

After the game, the first of three nights of dazzling fireworks presented by Booz Allen Hamilton will light up the Rocket City Sky.

Little League Wednesday, April 13

It is IDEXX Labs Dog Day where fans can bring their furry friends to Toyota Field and sit with them on the Budweiser Berm. A $1 donation per dog is requested, benefitting Friends of Rescue Inc.

Wednesday is also Little League Night with the Trash Pandas welcoming local little leaguers for a special pre-game parade around the warning track.

Burgers & Buds Thursday, April 14

Country and Rock artist Alyssa Palmer will be performing at the Rock Porch prior to first pitch.

Happy Hour is from 5-7 p.m. with fans enjoying $3 domestic drafts at the Inline Electric Rock Porch and Fueling Stations near Penney Toyota Plaza.

Two thousand adults, ages 18 and older, will receive a free limited edition Have A Blast commemorative glass presented by the University of North Alabama.

Fans can get a hamburger or cheeseburger and a Bud or Bud Light for just $12 during Burgers & Buds Thursday at Dumpster Dive, Gravity Grille, or All-Stars concession stands.

Jackie Robinson Friday, April 15

Friday night is Jackie Robinson Night with video highlights and tributes to baseball great Jackie Robinson on the video board. Robinson’s number 42 is currently retired across baseball and hangs above the batter’s eye at Toyota Field.

Five thousand fans will get a free magnet schedule with the Trash Panda’s full 138-game 2022 schedule, and following the game is the second of three firework displays this week.

Space Night, Saturday, April 16

There is live music before the game by violinist Winslow Davis performing on the Inline Electric Rock Porch from 5-6:30 p.m.

Saturday is Space Night Jersey Auction with the Trash Pandas wearing specialty space-themed jerseys. Presented by Lockheed Martin, fans can bid on game worn, autographed jerseys from the Trash Panda players throughout the game by texting “Space” to 76278 and by visiting space.givesmart.com.

The jersey auction begins at 4 p.m. and conclude at the end of the seventh inning. Proceeds from the auction benefit the Rocket City Trash Pandas Foundation and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Education Foundation.

The evening closes with a Saturday night fireworks display, courtesy of Lockheed Martin.

Easter Sunday Brunch Buffet & Easter Candy Drop, April 17

An all-you-can-eat Easter Brunch Buffet will be served at Toyota Field prior to the Trash Pandas game on the Wayne’s Picnic Patio. Brunch includes cinnamon crunch French toast, Conecuh sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, seasonal fruit, a cold brew coffee bar and bottomless mimosas, among other items.

Tickets are priced at $26 and include the buffet and game ticket. They must be purchased in increments of six. Reserve your place for brunch by calling (256) 325-1403 extension 2.

All kids ages 12 and under are invited to run the bases after the game while a helicopter hovers above and drops candy onto Toyota Field where the kids can run and collect it.
