MONTGOMERY – Several North Alabama organizations that serve victims of domestic violence will share $700,000 in grants, Gov. Kay Ivey announced.

“Domestic violence is a destructive force that tears apart families and damages communities,” Ivey said. “I applaud these nonprofit groups for providing safe haven and compassionate care to people in a time of crisis as they take steps toward recovery.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants with funds made available by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“These grants will help ensure that domestic violence victims in north Alabama have timely access to a wide range of resources,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in commending these organizations for helping families heal.”
