Sole man: Kling walking for 11th term on Huntsville City Council

(Huntsville City Council, 256 Today)

HUNTSVILLE — As someone who has worn out dozens of shoes in his 40 years on the Huntsville City Council, Bill Kling is literally boots on the ground when it comes to public service.

And he’s not finished, yet.

Kling, who still walks the neighborhoods and meeting with his District 4 constituents, said he will be running for reelection in the 2026 municipal elections. He was first elected in 1988.

“I’m keeping busy and we’re still doing good things,” Kling told 256 Today. “But, of course, we can do better.”

Kling said he is focused on Huntsville’s center, particularly the Lowe Mill, Westlawn and Mill Creek areas.

“I want to keep the center part of the city spruced up,” he said. “We’ve got street projects on Drake Avenue and elsewhere in the district and we’re working to keep the drains clear. We’ve got public art in Rose Park in Westlawn; Mill Creek is coming along.

“I feel good about things.”

The municipal election is August 2026. The qualifying date has not yet been set.
