DECATUR — The Greater Morgan County Builders Association has endorsed Kent Lawrence for mayor of Decatur, Lawrence’s campaign announced.

In its endorsement, the GMCBA recognized Lawrence’s three decades of business experience. As a small business owner, Lawrence has demonstrated the kind of hands-on problem-solving and fiscal responsibility that the association believes Decatur needs during this time of residential expansion and infrastructure demands, the organization said.

“Decatur is experiencing an increase in residential growth,” said a spokesperson for the GMCHBA. “Now more than ever, we need Kent to make sure Decatur thrives — by recruiting businesses, supporting our schools and recreation facilities, and improving our infrastructure. We know that Kent will work hard to make Decatur a city that families want to live in and raise their families.”

Lawrence thanked the Builders Association for their endorsement and reaffirmed his commitment to smart growth and community-focused development.

“I’m honored to have the support of the Greater Morgan County Builders Association,” he said. “Their work is critical to shaping the future of our city, and I share their vision for a Decatur that balances growth with opportunity for all residents.

“Together, we will build a stronger, safer, and more vibrant Decatur.”
