Main Street Madison is seeking public input on the future of downtown Madison through a new community-wide survey aimed at gathering feedback on shopping, dining, events, housing and other priorities.

The survey opened June 9 and will remain available through June 23. Responses will be used to help guide future downtown development efforts, business recruitment, community investments and revitalization initiatives.

According to Main Street Madison, the survey is intended for residents, visitors, shoppers and anyone who spends time in downtown Madison. Organizers say the feedback will help local leaders better understand what consumers value most and identify opportunities to enhance the downtown experience.

“As downtown Madison continues to evolve as a destination for shopping, dining, entertainment, and community engagement, Main Street Madison is seeking input from individuals who live, work, shop, dine, or spend time in the area,” the organization said in announcing the survey.

Business owner Rod Matthews said community participation is critical to ensuring downtown continues to meet the needs of residents, visitors and businesses.

“Community feedback is essential to ensuring downtown Madison continues to reflect the needs and interests of residents, visitors, and local businesses,” Matthews said. “This survey provides an opportunity for everyone to share their perspectives and help shape the next chapter of downtown Madison’s growth and revitalization.”

The survey asks participants about a variety of topics, including:

  • Frequency of visits to downtown Madison
  • Shopping and dining preferences
  • Event attendance and community activities
  • Housing options
  • Desired businesses, services and amenities
  • Overall perceptions of downtown Madison

Main Street Madison said participation is voluntary and anonymous, and responses will be used solely for planning and revitalization purposes. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete.

The nonprofit organization focuses on preserving, promoting and enhancing downtown Madison through economic development, historic preservation and placemaking initiatives designed to strengthen the area’s character and support local businesses.

Community members can complete the survey online through June 23. Additional information about Main Street Madison and its programs is available at Main Street Madison.
