CULLMAN – Businesswoman Cindy Myrex has announced her candidacy to run in the special election for the Alabama House of Representatives District 12.

She is seeking the seat of Rep. Cory Harbison who announced this week he intends to leave the House no later than April 15. Harbison (R-Good Hope) said he wants to be close to his family and continue to work for the city of Good Hope.
A date for a special election to replace Harbison has not been set.
“A lifetime in Cullman County and on Smith Lake, I never cease to be thankful for the part of the world God allowed me to be in,” said Myrex. “Living in this community, filled with generations of genuine, nurturing, and God-fearing families, I am always glad to call Cullman County, Cold Springs, and Smith Lake my home.”
Myrex and her husband Ricky have been married for 38 years. She was a stay-at-home mother for 18 years and is now in her 19th season as a Realtor, specializing in Smith Lake and Cullman County.
“I have been lucky enough to have the best of both worlds,” Myrex said. “To say I am blessed and thankful would be an understatement. I hope that along the way in my life, I can return the many blessings given to me.”
Myrex has long been active in conservative politics, recently serving as a Trump alternate delegate at the 2024 Republican National Convention. She has also worked on numerous campaigns, participated in the Alabama Strike Force with 16 days of door-knocking in Georgia, and was elected to the State Executive Committee for Cullman County.
She and her husband are members of Temple Baptist Church.
“My focus is simple — faith, family, and freedom,” Myrex said. “I believe in protecting the rights of hardworking Alabamians and ensuring our values are represented in Montgomery.
“I will advocate for policies that strengthen our communities and preserve our way of life.”
