Open tryouts for Huntsville’s professional soccer team approaching

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville City Football Club will host open tryouts for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Season on January 12. 

Chad Emerson, Managing Director of Business Operations for Huntsville City FC, said the club is looking forward to the upcoming season.

“With the 2025 season approaching, we are excited to host open tryouts ahead of our third year in MLS NEXT Pro. We look forward to seeing talented players from across the country showcase their skills to our coaching staff in the hopes of becoming a Boy in Blue.”

The open tryouts will give participants a chance to showcase their skills to Huntsville City FC Head Coach Chris O’Neal and the team’s technical staff. Players who participated in previous open tryouts have been featured in Huntsville City FC preseason squads and have played in preseason matches. 

For $200, participants, 18 and older, can take to the pitch at John Hunt Park at 2151 Jaycee Way, Huntsville, AL 35801, from 1 to 4 p.m. 

Those taking part must sign a waiver of liability, be 18 years of age or older, and wear black shorts and black socks.  

Participants can sign up here starting today through Jan. 9 to try out for the club.  Abut 100 participants are expected to take part in the open tryouts. 

The MLS NEXT Pro Huntsville City Football Club played their home debut at the renovated at Joe Davis Stadium, aka “The Joe”, in May 2023.  Before the $28.8 million renovation, the Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium was the previous home of Minor League Baseball’s Huntsville Stars.
