Pamela Casey: ‘Only candidate with prosecution experience’ in attorney general race

HUNTSVILLE — Republican candidate Pamela Casey says her two decades of courtroom experience set her apart in the race for Alabama attorney general, positioning herself as “a prosecutor, not a politician.”

Casey, the district attorney for Blount County, said her campaign is rooted in protecting Alabama families and ensuring justice is applied equally across the state.

“For the last 20 years, I have been protecting our families, protecting our children,” Casey said. “That’s what the people want, someone who really cares about them, not about politics, not about money.”

On a recent stop in Huntsville, Casey said she is the only candidate in the race with direct prosecution experience.

“I’m the only candidate in this race that’s ever stood in front of a jury, who’s ever prosecuted a pedophile, who’s ever put a killer in prison,” she said. “I’ve sent predators away for hundreds of years, life without parole. I’ve been fighting for our kids, our families, our homes, my entire career.”

She said her campaign contributions reflect broad grassroots support rather than large special interest money.

“My contributors come from all over the state of Alabama, all seven congressional districts,” Casey said. “I have the most contributors of individual people not big outside businesses or money we don’t know where it came from. When you look at my list, you see voters.”

If elected, Casey said her priorities would include helping local law enforcement agencies fight crime statewide, protecting conservative values and states’ rights, and ensuring that all Alabamians are treated equally under the law.

“When you go home at night, you want to make sure your children are safe, your family is safe, and your home is safe,” she said. “We’re going to make sure that’s happening across Alabama. A politician can’t do that — a prosecutor can.”

She also said her administration would hold everyone to the same standard of accountability.

“Whether they are politicians, elected officials, or just the man down the street, everyone will be treated the same under the law,” Casey said.

Casey faces former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Katherine Robertson, chief counsel for Attorney General Steve Marshall, in next year’s Republican primary, set for May 19.
