PBR x Lockhart Smokehouse to bring Texas barbecue, mechanical bull riding, jobs

HUNTSVILLE — Barbecue lovers will soon be able to mosey on up to a real cowboy bar, order themselves a whisky, grab a set of eatin’ irons and chow down on a finger-lickin’ delicious slab of country-western style ribs or beef brisket, smoked Texas-style.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Central Texas barbecue to Huntsville this fall,” said Jill Bergus, owner of Lockhart Smokehouse.

Set to arrive at Bridge Street Town Centre in September, the PBR x Lockhart Smokehouse promises a new dining and entertainment experience for Huntsville.

The restaurant will offer a “Western chic” dining and entertainment experience. It features country music, sports, and, yep, a mechanical bull — the only professionally endorsed one in the area.

The restaurant is a merger between the popular PBR Cowboy Bars inspired by the Professional Bull Riders and the 100-year-old family tradition of Lockhart, Texas barbecue.

“We’re thrilled to be partnered with the best BBQ in the country – Lockhart Smokehouse — and look forward to giving all of our patrons a first-class experience,” said John Sohigian, vice president of consumer products for PBR.

Boasting the motto: “Damn. Good. BBQ. Near You,” the PBR x Lockhart Smokehouse will be hiring more than 60 team members for all positions – even a mechanical bull operator.

“We are seeking positive, high-energy individuals with a passion for barbecue who will provide unmatched guest service to join our team within this premier and lively dining environment,” Bergus said.

The menu includes smoked brisket; sausage from the historic Kreuz Market, the first meat market in Texas open in 1875; mouth-watering ribs; and a variety of other meats, all smoked over Texas post oak.

The primary décor boasts a Western concept by employing copper and reclaimed, textured wood paired with polished materials and illuminated ribbed glass. These elements, combined with authentic smokers and custom western chandeliers, provide a rustic charm.

The restaurant flows out to an outdoor patio adorned with comfortable seating, fire pits and string lights.

The PBR is responsible for developing bull riding into a full-fledged competition sport that attracts riders and spectators from around the world. The PBR World Finals is the largest organized bull-riding event worldwide.
