‘Pinch dat tail and suck dat head’: Trash Pandas host Crawfish Festival at Toyota Field

MADISON –– The good times are rolling for the Rocket City Trash Pandas after securing a post-season spot in the Southern League playoffs.

Now the Minor League Baseball team is bringing a Crawfish Festival to Trash Panda Nation on July 2 to help celebrate Independence Day.

If you have spent any time on the Mississippi and Louisiana coasts, you know how to eat a crawfish but if you’re a novice, no problem cher! You will get your chance during Toyota Field’s first action-packed Crawfish Festival.

There will be inflatables and bouncy houses galore, competitions in crawfish eating, hot dog eating, and watermelon eating; as well as sack races, a 30-foot “radical” obstacle course and a Hula Hoop contest.

“We are excited to welcome fans to our first Crawfish Festival at Toyota Field to start July 4th weekend,” Trash Pandas General Manager Garrett Fahrmann said. “The Crawfish Festival is another unique event, and it is perfect for fans and families of all ages.”

He is referring to putt-putt golf, cornhole, volleyball, top toss, Kan-Jam, giant kick croquet, shuffleboard, the Main Event Kids Zone, and a Mojo Speed pitching machine.

The park is open from 4-8:45 p.m.

Food trucks will be on hand including Hippea Camper, Mac N Snacks, Thai Food Truck, Forever Grateful, Nomads Road Dogs, Kona Ice, and Bill’s Lemonade.

At 4:30 p.m., live music begins with performances by the Zydeco Band from 4:30-6:30  and the Pat Jammar Band from 7-9.

Independence Day weekend will be capped off by Rocket City’s first Monday home game on July 4 as they take on the Chattanooga Lookouts at 6:35 p.m.

The Trash Pandas will wear special patriotic jerseys for the game, and an incredible fireworks spectacular will follow the game. Celebrate America’s freedom at the ballpark and on the jerseys throughout the game.

Presale tickets to the Crawfish Festival are $30 until June 25, including a crawfish platter. Presale tickets that do not include the crawfish platter are $10.

Tickets on July 2 will cost $15 with crawfish on sale inside the ballpark. Guests can purchase crawfish from J&J Seafood and Bubba Luke’s on the day of the event for $20.

No great show, crawfish festivals included, can conclude without incredible fireworks on the 4th of July weekend. This one will light up the Rocket City sky and, as they say down in bayou country, Laissez les bons temps rouler Huntsville!
