Rick Springfield, Richard Marx in acoustic show at VBC

HUNTSVILLE — A pair of heart-throbs from the 1980s will bring their music to Huntsville.

Rick Springfield and Richard Marx will perform their hits in “An Acoustic Evening” on Feb. 18 at the Von Braun Center Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the VBC box office and online at ticketmaster.com.

Springfield had a No. 1 hit with “Jessie’s Girl” in 1981 and received the Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. He followed with four more top 10 hits: “I’ve Done Everything for You”, “Don’t Talk to Strangers”, “Affair of the Heart” and “Love Somebody.” Springfield’s two top 10 albums are “Working Class Dog” (1981) and “Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet” (1982).

He also portrayed Noah Drake on the daytime soap opera “General Hospital” (1981–83, 2005–08, 2012), returning in 2013 for the show’s 50th anniversary with his son, actor Liam Springthorpe.

Marx is the only male artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the top 5 of the Billboard charts. He has scored 14 No. 1 as a performer and a songwriter/producer. As a singer, his No. 1 hits include “Hazard,” “Right Here Waiting”, “Hold On to the Nights”, “Endless Summer Nights”, and “Satisfied.” According to Billboard, Marx “holds the distinction of having written songs that have hit No. 1 on various Billboard charts in each of the last four decades.”
