GUNTERSVILLE – Ready to make a dent in your holiday shopping list and have a jolly time doing it? The Lake City is ready to kick off the most wonderful time of the year this weekend with a fun and free two-night event featuring tons of Christmas shopping and family-friendly activities throughout downtown Guntersville and City Harbor.
Friday: Sip and Shop Open House
Made possible by the Lake Guntersville Merchants Association, the Sip-and-Shop Open House will take place Friday night, Dec. 1, on Gunter Ave. downtown. Enjoy a glass of wine as you wander through the idyllic entertainment district, all decked out with holiday décor, until 8 p.m. There will also be a free live concert in nearby Errol Allan Park.

Saturday: Night Before Christmas
Bring the whole family out to Guntersville’s annual Night Before Christmas event Saturday, which will feature more shopping, lots of fun for the kids, as well as a visit from Santa himself.
The vendor fair and food trucks will begin at 10 a.m. on Dec. 2, with family and children’s activities taking place downtown and at City Harbor from 4-8 p.m., including:
- Santa at Fant’s
- Free carriage rides through downtown with pickup at Guntersville City Hall and the Marshall County Courthouse
- Snow and performances by Guntersville Elementary, Guntersville High School, and Shining Stars choirs at Errol Allan Park
- Free hot chocolate
- Selfie Station at Mountain Valley Arts Council
- Live Nativity at Guntersville First Methodist Church
- Kiddie train at Guntersville City Hall
- Sales and discounts at local merchants
