Space & Rocket Center hosting food drive; offers reduced admission to furloughed workers

HUNTSVILLE – The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is inviting museum visitors to give back and get a discount on general admission this month.

With the donation of non-perishable food items, visitors will receive $5 off general admission. This discount may be used only at the time of the donation.

All collected items will go to the Food Bank of North Alabama to support furloughed workers and others in need in the community.

In addition to the food drive, the Rocket Center is offering half price admission to the museum and a discount on tickets to Cocktails & Cosmos shows in the Intuitive Planetarium to furloughed workers. Workers should present a government ID or furlough letter to receive the discounts.

The food drive runs through Nov. 30, during operating hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Requested items include:

  • Peanut butter
  • Breakfast cereal
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Beans
  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.)
  • Canned soups and sauces
  • Canned fruits and vegetables (pop-top cans preferred)
  • Baby food and formula (must be in date)

The Rocket Center is partnering with Halsey Foodservice to deliver the collected food items to the Food Bank.
