Rocket Center’s INTUITIVE® Planetarium in the running for best in the nation

(U.S. Space & Rocket Center)

One of Huntsville’s most dazzling attractions is now vying for national bragging rights.

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s INTUITIVE® Planetarium has been nominated for Best Planetarium in the United States as part of the “USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards,” placing the Rocket City in the spotlight alongside top planetariums across the country.

The nomination comes after a panel of experts selected standout planetariums nationwide, with ‘USA TODAY 10BEST’ editors narrowing the field to the final contenders. Winners are determined by public vote, and supporters can cast a ballot once per day through February 18 at 11 a.m. CST.

Opened in February 2019, the INTUITIVE® Planetarium has quickly become a centerpiece of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center experience. Featuring an 8K projection system and a massive 67-foot dome, the planetarium delivers immersive, state-of-the-art views of the cosmos through daily live, interactive shows.

Its popular “Cocktails & Cosmos” program on Friday nights blends astronomy with a social twist, drawing both locals and visitors for an after-hours journey through space.

The ‘USA TODAY 10BEST’ awards recognize excellence in travel and lifestyle destinations, highlighting venues that stand out for innovation, experience and visitor impact. A top-10 finish would further cement the planetarium’s reputation as one of Huntsville’s premier attractions — and a must-see stop for space enthusiasts.

Voting is open now, and supporters are encouraged to vote daily to help bring the title home to Huntsville.
