Take a hike! Land Trust of North Alabama website can show the way

HUNTSVILLE – Just in time for holiday hikes and cooler temperatures, Land Trust of North Alabama has launched a website to provide easy access to all the information needed to enjoy the beauty and benefits of the great outdoors.
Land Trust of North Alabama is a nonprofit serving 10 counties of North Alabama to protect natural lands and provide opportunities and spaces for outdoor recreation and education. The Land Trust’s 10 public nature preserves offer some 80 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities.
All are free thanks to the support of more than 2,000 members contributing annually.
Using the “Find a Trail” feature, visitors can easily locate nature preserves then download a trail map, discover interesting features and convenient amenities, and get helpful hiking tips.
For those who prefer a guided experience, the site offers registration for guided hikes and educational programs.
“North Alabama has so many beautiful natural spaces,” said Melanie Manson with the Land Trust of North Alabama. “By making it easy to find places to go and all the information you’ll need for the best possible experience, we hope to encourage more people to get outdoors and enjoy it.”
The website provides information on the Land Trust’s projects to enhance local habitats, create connectivity for people and wildlife, and protect irreplaceable natural land before it’s gone.
For information on volunteering and/or becoming a member, click here. Land Trust memberships begin at $35 annually and offer a variety of benefits such as access to the Land Trust map app, discounts at local retailers, priority registration for guided hikes, and invitations to unique members-only experiences.
