According to authorities, Donnie Kent, 29, ran the teens’ car off the road before shooting at them in a “road rage” incident on U.S. 231 in Hazel Green. He is charged with two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

Through a joint investigation between the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from both agencies identified Kent and took him into custody without incident.
“We are pleased to announce an arrest in this case, which brings a measure of closure to the victims involved,” Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner said. “We appreciate the cooperation and support provided by Sheriff Tull Malone and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office throughout this investigation.
“The successful resolution and apprehension of the offender reflect the strong partnership between both agencies and our unwavering commitment to public safety.”
Kent is being detained at the Lincoln County Jail while awaiting extradition. Sheriff’s detectives anticipate additional charges.
