Third infant surrendered through Madison Safe Haven Baby Box

MADISON – Madison Fire and Rescue has received another infant surrender through the Safe Haven Baby Box, the city of Madison said today.

This is the third surrender this year at Madison’s Fire Station 1. The station is at 101 Mill Road.

After initial assessment and care provided by the MFR team, HEMSI transported the infant to Madison Hospital for further evaluation. The Alabama Department of Human Resources has been notified, and agencies are working for the best interest of the child.

The city of Madison said it recognizes the immense need for resources for mothers-in-crisis, and will continue to provide emergency response to every infant placed in the Safe Haven Box.
