Town of Grant honors late civic icon with 5th annual Dan Robinson Memorial Run

GRANT – Dan Robinson made a commitment to lift the quality of life in his mountaintop community with his unyielding dedication to Grant’s youth and the development of the Kidtopia playground.

Next month, the Marshall County town atop Gunters Mountain will once again revive their beloved late resident’s memory with the 5th annual Dan Robinson Memorial Run on May 4 hosted by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Kidtopia Playground Association, Inc. 

The organization’s mission is to sustain and develop Grant Park, particularly the playground. The association describes the event as a celebration of community spirit as well as a tribute to Robinson.

Race Options/’Star Wars’ contest:

• 5K and 10K: The U.S. Track and Field certified walk/run races will take participants through the scenic mountain town of Grant, with the course winding through picturesque landscapes. Don’t miss the challenge of “Cardiac Hill” at the end. Water and first aid stations will be available along the route to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
• Kid’s Fun Run: Designed for children ages 2 to 12, this fun run promises excitement for the youngest members of our community. Every Fun Run registration includes a commemorative t-shirt, so sign up your little ones for a day of active fun!
• An addition this year is a “Star Wars” costume contest. Embrace your inner Jedi or Sith and run as your favorite “Star Wars” character for a chance to win prizes. 

Pricing:

• 10k: $35 
• 5k: $30
• Kids Fun Run: $15

Schedule:

• Packet Pickup: May 3, 1-5 p.m.
• Race Day: Race day packet pickup and late registration will be available from 6-7:15 a.m. The 5K and 10K races start at 8 a.m., the awards ceremony is 9:3. The Kid’s Fun Run will take place immediately after the awards ceremony.

Family Pricing and Sleep-In Option:

• Take advantage of family pricing for the 5K and 10K races, with special rates for multiple participants.
  2 people – $40
  3 people – $60
  4 people – $80
  5 people – $100

• If you’re unable to join us for the race but still want to support the cause, consider the $20 Sleep-In Option and receive a race day t-shirt. Families with more than two children in the Kid’s Fun Run can enjoy free participation for additional children, ensuring that the whole family can join in the fun without breaking the bank.
