Trash Pandas launch Color the Can contest for young fans

HUNTSVILLE – The Rocket City Trash Pandas Foundation is inviting kids to paint Sprocket’s house.

Well, sort of.

Kids ages 3 to 12 can enter the Color the Can contest, a metal waste bin or dumpster where a raccoon searching for thrown out food scraps basically lives.

The contest details and submission form are available at TrashPandasFoundation.com.

The Cash Can is a 6-foot trash can, which will act as a donation bank fundraiser for the Rocket City Trash Pandas Foundation. The downloadable coloring sheet is available online and at WAFF.com. Kids can also pick up the sheets at the Junkyard Team Store at Toyota Field and the team store on Hughes Road during their regular business hours.

Prizes will be awarded to the Top 10 submissions and the grand prize winner’s design will be re-created on the Foundation’s Cash Can at Toyota Field this season. The display will be produced in partnership with the Welding Technology program at Calhoun Community College.

The Top 10 submissions will be revealed during “Tennessee Valley Living” March 1 at 10 a.m. on WAFF-TV 48. The winner will also receive eight box seat tickets and make a ceremonial first pitch at the Trash Pandas Opening Night, presented by Booz Allen Hamilton, April 9, and a Trash Pandas Prize Pack. Nine additional finalists will receive four box seat ticket vouchers and a Trash Pandas prize pack.

The Trash Pandas Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information, or to support the foundation’s community programs, visit TrashPandasFoundation.com.
