World’s Longest Yard Sale back for 38th year, spanning six states

GADSDEN — The City of Gadsden will soon be taking part in the world’s longest yard sale, now returning for its 38th year.

Scheduled for Aug. 1-4, The 127 Yard Sale, as the event is known, is 690 miles long and runs through northeast Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan.

Each year the sale draws thousands of people from across the U.S with the event being described as “more than just a shopping event.”

“Since its inception in 1987, the 127 Yard Sale has grown into an iconic event, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the nation and even from overseas,”  organizers wrote. “The sale stretches across six states, offering a unique opportunity for participants to explore rural communities, discover hidden gems, and make lasting memories.”

“It is a journey filled with adventure, camaraderie, and the joy of discovery. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a seasoned participant, we invite you to join us for an unforgettable experience.”

“Pack your bags, hit the road, and get ready to uncover the treasures that await along The World’s Longest Yard Sale.”

The sale was originally started as a way to attract tourists to the Jamestown area and has since grown to its current size.
