HUNTSVILLE – The first day for students at Huntsville City Schools is the first of August, and in preparation the Huntsville Parks & Recreation Department will open after-school program registration for the upcoming school year Wednesday.

The program is offered at four recreation centers, providing high-quality after-school activities for system students in grades 1-6. The cost is $20 per child per week, with a $10 fee for siblings. Fees are subject to change.

“Offering the community a robust after-school program is a priority for our highly trained staff,” Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said. “We’ve designed a curriculum that supports homework completion, physical activity and exploration of new interests.”

Each recreation center will tailor activities to the children’s preferences, including snacks, homework time, physical exercises, outdoor play, arts and games.

Parents or guardians must complete an online registration form for each child interested in joining the program.

Visit the after-school program page for more information.
