Athens kicks off the holidays with annual Tinsel Trail tree lighting

ATHENS – Formerly known as the “North Pole Stroll,” the Athens-Limestone Tinsel
Trail, presented this year by Hughes Properties, has become a beloved tradition in
Athens for more than a decade.

On Thursday, 100 trees will light up around Big Spring Memorial Park with themes that represent local businesses, nonprofits, and the honoring of passed loved ones.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony is sure to be nothing short of magical when they all simultaneously come to life.

The evening will feature live entertainment, Storytime with Santa for the little ones, Happi Pappi Beignets, and hot chocolate starting at 6 p.m. with the official ceremony at 6:30.

The Athens-Limestone Tinsel Trail is free to visit and will remain open through Dec. 31.
