A Huntsville drug trafficking chase arrest has led to drug trafficking charges after authorities say a Meridianville man fled law enforcement and was later found with cocaine and fentanyl.

The incident began around 5 p.m. Saturday when agents with the North Alabama Drug Task Force attempted to stop a suspect vehicle near Bob Wallace Avenue and Patton Road. Huntsville Police say the driver, identified as 40-year-old Tyrone Benitez Garner, did not stop and instead fled, prompting a pursuit.

Authorities say the chase ended when the vehicle crashed near Interstate 565 and Memorial Parkway. Garner was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.

During the arrest, agents reportedly recovered approximately 2.2 pounds of cocaine and 2 ounces of fentanyl.

Garner was booked into the Madison County Jail and is charged with two counts of drug trafficking.
