Breeze Airways blowing non-stop into Los Angeles

HUNTSVILLE — Breeze Airways is headed to LA, and it’s not Lower Alabama, though its planes are made there.

Breeze Airways, whose planes are built in Mobile, is the first carrier to offer non-stop flights from Alabama and will originate out of Huntsville International Airport. The flight, the 14th non-stop route out of the Rocket City, will begin the HSV-LAX route for the summer beginning June 14. The new route will operate Mondays and Fridays, and fares will start at $129 one-way. Passengers will fly on brand-new Airbus A220s commissioned by Breeze.

“This new nonstop service from Huntsville to Los Angeles is an excellent indicator of how well Breeze is doing in the Huntsville community,” said Trey Bentley, board chair of the Port of Huntsville. “The addition of HSV to LAX shows the dedication Breeze has to serve our market, and they recognize the success they are enjoying here.

“Breeze Airways is giving our customers what they’ve been asking for: nonstop air service to desirable leisure destinations at an affordable cost.”

According to the airport, Breeze chose Huntsville as one of its first cities to begin service upon launching the airline in May 2021. The carrier has nonstop flights from HSV to Las Vegas, Orlando and Tampa.

“We’re glad when east meets west, and even more so when the route is a direct connection to Huntsville,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “The Rocket City does a lot of business in Los Angeles, and it’s a great area for leisure travel, too. Thanks to Breeze Airlines for continuing to invest in Huntsville.”

Breeze is adding 10 Mobile-made Airbus A220 aircraft to its fleet and is offering 20% off all roundtrip base fares. Guests may use the code “A220” at checkout on the Breeze app or at flybreeze.com for fares purchased by 1:59 a.m. Thursday. Discounts are for base fares on travel from March 6 through Sept. 3.

Breeze serves 49 cities across the United States.

“We expect this summer service to be as popular as our flights to Las Vegas, Orlando and Tampa from Huntsville,” Breeze CEO Tom Doxey said.
