COLSA Corporation, one of Huntsville’s most storied defense contractors, has secured a $59.4 million Navy contract to support critical battlefield communications technology.

The Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific awarded COLSA the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, valued at $59,398,717, covering a five-year ordering period from May 2026 through May 2031.

The contract calls for engineering services supporting the development, maintenance, interoperability and operations of data link tactical tools, gateway systems and mini-rack systems, technologies that allow military forces to share real-time battlefield information across platforms and domains.

The majority of the work, 90%, will be performed at government facilities in San Diego, with the remaining 10% carried out at COLSA’s Huntsville headquarters. The contract was awarded as a sole-source acquisition, meaning the Navy determined COLSA was uniquely qualified to perform the work. Navy research, development, test and evaluation funds are financing the contract.

The award is the latest milestone for a company that has grown from a home-based startup into one of Huntsville’s most prominent defense and technology firms.

COLSA was founded in 1980 by Francisco “Frank” J. Collazo, a name well known in the Rocket City’s business and civic communities. The company specializes in cyber warfare, systems engineering, data science and uncrewed systems, with the Department of Defense, NASA and commercial clients among its primary customers.
