Cornelius named Rogersville sales officer for Bank Independent

SHEFFIELD Aaron Cornelius has been promoted to sales officer for Bank Independent‘s Rogersville office, the company announced.

Cornelius joined Bank Independent in July 2016 as a part-time teller. Over the course of the last six years, he has served as a loan processor and loan specialist, a relationship banker and senior relationship banker.

“We are very proud of Aaron and the qualities he exhibits in fulfilling our goal, mission and values,” said Bank Independent CEO Rick Wardlaw. “He truly cares about the Rogersville community and the people that make their home there.

“We are excited to see him continue to grow and make a positive difference in his community.”

Wardlaw said it is not unusual for employees to start at the bank in entry-level positions and quickly grow into upper-level management positions.

Cornelius is a graduate of Bank Independent’s University Servant Leadership program and is enrolled in the Southeastern School of Commercial Lending, Class of 2023, and the Emerge Leadership Shoals Class of 2023.

Headquartered in Sheffield but with a growing presence all over North Alabama, including new branches in Huntsville and Madison, Bank Independent is a four-generation family bank.

“When you are invited to join Bank Independent as a team member, you are not asked to work for a company, you are invited to join a family,” Bank President Macke Mauldin said recently. “A family who, from the first day of existence 75 years ago, made it its mission to make a positive difference in people’s lives.”
