HUNTSVILLE – Paul DeSmet will step into the role of company president for Technical Micronics Control, a chemical cleaning and fabrication services provider in Huntsville.

Outgoing company President Steve Cook will continue as chief financial officer.

DeSmet was most recently executive vice president at Line-X Protective Coatings, and has more than 20 years in senior management, strategic development, plan execution and international operations at Advanced Protective Coatings.

With 16 years active duty in the Navy, throughout his time at APC and Line-X, DeSmet served in the Navy Reserves. He retired as a captain in July 2010.

“I am very excited to be joining the TMC team,” said DeSmet. “I believe TMC has a great business model and is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growth in the aerospace, defense and biopharmaceutical markets.

“As these industries evolve, TMC is in a position to provide a cost effective and timely suite of precision chemical cleaning, panel fabrication and tube bending services to help its customers efficiently manage their projects and safely execute their missions.”

DeSmet earned an electrical engineering degree from South Dakota State University.

He initially served as an instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power School teaching fluid flow, thermodynamics, and electrical engineering; and he later served as nuclear engineer on submarines where he qualified as nuclear engineer and submarine commander.

“Paul is the right leader for TMC,” said Kevin Heronimus, TMC’s CEO. “Paul’s extensive sales background and business development skills should help TMC strengthen partnerships, develop strategic alliances to expand our presence in the aerospace, defense, biopharmaceutical and other markets.

“I believe his strong leadership experience will help focus TMC to drive business success in the years to come.”
