Duotech Services expands to Huntsville with help from Square Foot Huntsville Group

HUNTSVILLE — North Carolina-based defense technology company Duotech Services is expanding to Huntsville, bringing 50  jobs and 25,000 square feet of advanced operations space to Thornton Research Park with help from The Square Foot Huntsville Group at KW Commercial.

Duotech, known for its expertise in military electronics repair and sustainment, chose Huntsville for its skilled workforce and deep connections to the nation’s defense industry.

“Finding the right space for a high-tech company like Duotech takes the right mix of timing and listening,” said Donna Lamb, team leader and owner at The Square Foot Huntsville Group. “We’re thrilled to match their complex facility needs with the perfect location, and even more thrilled to welcome 50 new jobs to our local economy.”

Lamb said the expansion was driven in part by workforce needs Duotech couldn’t meet in North Carolina.

“They simply could not find the workforce they needed to expand where they were,” Lamb said. “Huntsville offered that plus the opportunity to grow their contract base.”

Securing the right type of facility was critical for Duotech’s operations, which require specialized infrastructure.

“These companies need a lot of three-phase power to do the testing they do,” Lamb said. “Many also need a secure area, what’s called a SCIF, where no electrical or telecommunications equipment can penetrate. On top of that, they need loading docks, offices, and open testing space.

“A lot of unique things come together in this kind of industrial property.”

Duotech’s move underscores a broader trend of advanced technology and defense firms expanding into Huntsville, drawn by the region’s infrastructure, talent, and ongoing federal investments.

“We’re absolutely seeing an uptick in out-of-state companies who want to be in Huntsville,” Lamb said. “With all the recent announcements, Space Command, FBI, everything else, industrial leasing isn’t slowing down anytime soon.”

Robert Cox, Duotech’s vice president of business strategy, said the company’s decision was rooted in Huntsville’s strong ecosystem for innovation and collaboration.

“Huntsville’s ecosystem aligns perfectly with our mission to sustain and modernize mission-critical systems,” Cox said. “The support we’ve received from the city of Huntsville, the state of Alabama, and the local business community has been tremendous.”

Cooper Schrimsher, CCIM and partner at Square Foot Huntsville, said the project highlights the region’s ongoing momentum.

“From site search to buildout, this project shows how public-private collaboration fuels economic growth,” Schrimsher said. “Duotech’s arrival proves that momentum is only accelerating.”

Founded in 1982, Duotech Services provides engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance support for military and aerospace electronic systems. The company’s expansion adds to the growing list of defense and technology firms investing in Huntsville.
