For sixth consecutive year, Bank Independent one of ‘Best Banks to Work For’

SHEFFIELD — Bank Independent is once again being recognized for its exceptional workplace environment and dedication to its employees.
For the sixth year in a row, the Sheffield-based financial institution has been named among the “Best Banks to Work For” by American Banker. This year it was ranked No. 25 in the category.
“Our team members remain our greatest asset,” said Bank Independent CEO Rick Wardlaw. “In 2024, we continue our commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative workplace where each team member can grow and succeed. Being recognized again by American Banker as one of the Best Banks to Work For reaffirms our dedication to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and engaged.
“This acknowledgment inspires us to keep raising the bar, making Bank Independent a place where excellence and purpose meet.”
Chana R. Schoenberger, editor-in-chief of American Banker, praised the banks that made the rankings and their efforts to lower employee turnover.
“The banks recognized on this list are trying hard to create workplaces that employees want to join,” Schoenberger said. “Especially during this moment when companies are experiencing a shift in how, where, and how much employees work, banks are paying attention to how they can best retain their people.”
Determining the Best Banks to Work For involved a two-step process, the bank said. The first phase consisted of evaluating each participating bank’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation.
The second part, worth 75% of the evaluation, consisted of employee surveys aimed at assessing the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determined the final ranking.
To be considered for participation, banks had to have at least 50 employees working in the U.S. and been in business for at least a year.
American Banker worked with the Best Companies Group to identify the banks for its rankings.
