HUNTSVILLE – It is the summer of the intern as the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber, in partnership with FuelAL and Innovate Alabama, kicks off the first in a series of events aimed at student interns, co-ops and young professionals.
The Get Onboard Intern Kick-off Mixer is Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Lost Highway Lounge at Yellowhammer Brewing. The networking event, sponsored by Adtran, is aimed at connecting Huntsville’s young talent to the Rocket City business community. Today is the deadline to register for the kick-off event.
Attendees will hear from City of Madison Mayor Paul Finley; SharnĂ© Rice, lead systems engineer for the Army’s PM SHIELD; and Collin Orcutt, Huntsville market lead for Schoel Engineering.
Other events are:
- The GO Intern Service Event is slated for June 14 from 4-6 p.m. at the Chamber office. It is an opportunity for summer interns and co-op students to give back to the community by packing bookbags in support of United Way of Madison County partners. There is no cost to attend. Light refreshments will be provided, and everyday work attire is suggested. Click here to register by June 13.
- The GO Intern Lunch & Learn program is June 21 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Chamber. Interns and co-op students are invited to hear Jillian Miles Massey, a talent management consultant with Horizon Point Consulting. She will share her expertise and best practices for professional networking and communication. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Click here to register by June 19.
- The GO Farmer’s Market Meetup at The Camp at MidCity District is June 25 from 1-2:30 p.m. Summer interns and co-op students can explore one of the area’s best farmer’s markets as well as stroll through the city’s nationally acclaimed mixed-use development with its retail, dining, and entertainment venues, including the Orion Amphitheater. The group will meet with one of MidCity’s development representatives where students will receive a market “treat” to enjoy while exploring the many different vendors onsite. There is no cost to attend but registration is required. Click here to register by June 23.
