Three Huntsville musicians will represent the Rocket City on an international stage later this summer after being selected for the prestigious TIVEDEN songwriter residency and music exchange in Sweden.
The Huntsville Music Office announced Wednesday that Common Man, Jayne Huntsman and Hugh Lindsey will participate in the weeklong residency Aug. 24-30 at Sandviksbaden, Sweden, joining artists, songwriters and music professionals from around the world for collaborative songwriting, performances and industry networking.
The TIVEDEN residency has grown from a songwriting exchange into an international music collaboration program. This year’s expanded event includes new partnerships with the Huntsville Music Office and Iceland Sync, along with showcases and industry events in Örebro and Stockholm.
“TIVEDEN started as a songwriting exchange, but over time it has become something bigger — a way to build real working relationships between artists, music communities, and industry partners across countries,” said Drew Young, co-founder of TIVEDEN. “This year’s partnerships with Huntsville and Iceland Sync feel like a natural next step. It gives the artists more than a week of writing. It gives them access to people, places, and opportunities that can continue long after the residency ends.”
As part of Huntsville’s partnership with the program, the three artists also will perform at the Live at Heart festival in Örebro, Sweden.
The Huntsville Music Office will host the festival’s opening party on Sept. 2, and Common Man, Huntsman and Lindsey will perform during a dedicated Huntsville showcase aimed at introducing the city’s music scene to international audiences and connecting local artists with musicians and industry professionals from across Europe.
“This opportunity is a testament to the talent and creativity found throughout Huntsville’s music community, and we’re incredibly proud to see local artists representing our city on an international stage,” Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella said. “Programs like TIVEDEN allow our musicians to build new creative relationships, reach international audiences, connect with industry professionals and bring valuable experiences back to Huntsville’s growing music ecosystem, all while strengthening our city’s presence within the global music community.”
The residency schedule includes a showcase at Sandviksbaden, a performance in Örebro and an industry networking event and alumni showcase at Twang in Stockholm.
City officials said Huntsville’s participation reflects its continued efforts to expand opportunities for local musicians through international partnerships and cultural exchanges.
Additional details about the artists’ performances and showcase schedule will be announced closer to the residency.
