HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville Hospital has made Newsweek’s list of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women 2025.

This list recognized 1,000 standout organizations across the U.S. that offer supportive workplace policies with an active commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Newsweek and data research firm Plant-A Insights Group complied the list based on an assessment of publicly accessible data, discussions and interviews with HR professionals and large-scale confidential online surveys conducted among women working for U.S.-based companies.

Employers were judged based on their proactive management of a diverse workforce, sustainability and awareness, compensation and benefits, training and career progression, work-life balance, working environment, company image and corporate culture.

“We hope this ranking highlights those companies setting new standards for gender equity and serves as a valuable resource for women seeking employers that align with their professional aspirations and values,” said Newsweek Editor in Chief Jennifer H. Cunningham.

The Huntsville Hospital Health System (HHHS) encompasses 14 hospitals serving a 16-county service area in two states.

In a recent interview with 256 Today, Huntsville Hospital President and CEO Jeff Samz said HHHS employs an 82% female workforce.

“We are very much a female-oriented workforce and we have to do things to make sure we’re friendly to working moms and a place for people who are trying to juggle a lot of things can come to work,” he said.

The not-for-profit health system based in Madison County is one of the region’s largest employers and contributes more than $4.2 billion annually to the North Alabama economy.
