Lions to ‘eat mor chikin’ with UNA, Chick-fil-A Florence partnership

FLORENCE – There’s no confirmed appearance by the iconic cows on campus, but Chick-fil-A will make its presence known at the University of North Alabama.

The university and restaurant chain have announced a partnership that will include the 2024 Homecoming parade and Lunch on the Lawn after parade festivities as well as Light the Fountain in Spring 2025.

“Florence is my home, and, as much as it has had a positive impact on me, my family, and now my children, I also want to have an impact,” said Brynn Albretsen, owner-operator of Chick-fil-A Florence. “I can’t think of a better way than through the University of North Alabama to accomplish this as UNA has a lasting impact in the community as well as through the students who will continue to have an impact as the next generation.”

As part of the partnership, Chick-fil-A Florence will be the named sponsor for the 2024 Homecoming parade, which is scheduled for Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m. through downtown Florence.

After the parade, Chick-Fil-A Florence will provide boxed lunches as part of the annual Lunch on the Lawn at Rogers Hall. A limited number of boxed lunches will be available and will be provided on a first come, first-served basis.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chick-fil-A Florence as our partner for the 2024 Homecoming parade and Lunch on the Lawn,” said Justin “Bishop” Alexander, director of Alumni Relations at UNA. “This is a wonderful opportunity for UNA, the community, and one of our beloved restaurants to come together as part of an annual event that celebrates our University, alumni, and friends.”

In addition to the role in the 2024 Homecoming parade and Lunch on the Lawn, Chick-fil-A Florence has also signed on to sponsor the annual Light the Fountain that takes place each spring at UNA and is a celebration of the warmer weather and the return to life of Harrison Fountain at the heart of campus.

Tammy Jacques, associate vice president for Student Affairs, coordinates Light the Fountain through Student Engagement, and she said she is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Albretsen and Chick-fil-A Florence as part of the annual event, which is scheduled for March 13.

“It truly is an honor to have Chick-fil-A Florence participating with us as we Light the Fountain in 2025,” Jacques said. “This event attracts thousands of people from across campus and the community, and there is no better way to have an impact than through Light the Fountain. It has become one of the premier events of the semester.”
