Pull up a chair: Gather Madison returns Nov. 8 for food, music and community

There’s always room for one more at the table in Madison.

Madison Visionary Partners (MVP) is inviting neighbors, friends and families to come together for the second annual Gather Madison, a free community meal and celebration Sunday, Nov. 8, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Homeplace Park in downtown Madison.

The event brings residents together around one long table for an afternoon of food, live music and an opportunity to get to know the people who call Madison home.

“Madison is growing quickly, and with that growth comes an even greater need for opportunities to simply come together,” said Madison Visionary Partners Executive Director Christina Hearne. “Gather Madison is a reminder that community isn’t just about where we live, it’s about the connections we make with the people around us. There is something powerful about sitting down together, sharing a meal, and getting to know your neighbors.”

Last year’s inaugural event drew nearly 500 attendees and more than 100 volunteers to Homeplace Park. Organizers hope to welcome even more residents this year, whether they’re longtime Madison families or newcomers looking to make connections.

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing is the presenting sponsor of this year’s event, joining other local businesses and organizations in making the free gathering possible.

Gather Madison is free and open to everyone, donations are accepted for Madison Visionary Partners, a nonprofit founded in 2014 to support community projects and initiatives that improve quality of life in Madison.

Hearne said sponsorship contributions help fund MVP’s work with local nonprofits, community organizations and projects throughout the city.

“Last year showed us just how meaningful it can be when people come together,” Hearne said. “We want Gather Madison to be a place where people leave with full stomachs, full hearts, and maybe a new friend or two.”
