State Sen. Andrew Jones, (R-Centre) has released a new campaign ad as he seeks another term representing Alabama Senate District 10.
“When I asked my husband, Andrew Jones, if he was raised in a barn, I never expected his answer,” his wife, Summer Jones, says as the ad begins.
“Okay, so I was totally raised in a barn, and my mom used to keep me right there in the barn while she was milking cows,” Jones responds.
“You know, his barn raising is actually what makes him a champion for the little guy,” Summer Jones says. “Andrew Jones knows the value of a hard day’s work and what it means to dream of a better tomorrow.”
Jones secured the GOP nomination in May, defeating Amy Dozier Minton, an ALFA-backed challenger, with roughly 54% of the vote.
In November he faces independent Jesse Battles of Attalla. Battles originally qualified as a Republican, but the Alabama Republican Party steering committee removed him from the primary ballot in February over a bylaws challenge tied to his past consulting work for former House Democratic leader and current Mayor of Gadsden, Craig Ford.
Battles petitioned onto the general election ballot as an independent and was certified by the Secretary of State’s office in August.
Jones is a fourth-generation cattle farmer and shareholder in Paul Jennings Farms, Inc., which is named for his late grandfather. His family once operated a dairy farm in Cherokee County before transitioning to beef cattle around 2011. He is also a small-business owner. He founded Centre-based Deep South Coffee Factory, a craft coffee roasting company.
Summer Jones closes the ad by tying her husband’s background to his campaign for another term in Montgomery.
“That’s why Andrew is exactly the man we need in the Alabama Senate, fighting for a brighter future for all Alabamians,” she says.
Jones has represented Senate District 10 since 2018. The district includes Etowah and Cherokee counties and southern DeKalb County. He chairs the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee.
