Huntsville City Council President Jennie Robinson has announced her bid for re-election to represent District 3, pledging to focus on managing growth, investing in infrastructure and maintaining the city’s quality of life.

Robinson, who has served on the council since 2014, said her campaign will emphasize responsible development as Huntsville continues to expand.

“As Huntsville grows, we have an obligation to ensure that growth is thoughtful, sustainable, and benefits every resident,” Robinson said in announcing her candidacy. “I’m running for re-election to continue the work of strengthening our neighborhoods, supporting public safety, and investing in the infrastructure that keeps Huntsville moving forward.”

Robinson is the first woman to serve multiple terms as Huntsville City Council president. During her time on the council, she has been a vocal advocate for fiscal responsibility, long-term planning and community engagement.

A Huntsville resident since 1980, Robinson previously served on the Huntsville City Board of Education after first being elected to the school board in 2002. Before joining the City Council, she built a career in business and public service and has remained active in numerous civic and nonprofit organizations throughout North Alabama.

Among her honors are the Distinguished Leadership Award from Leadership Greater Huntsville and the Women Honoring Women Award from the Women’s Economic Development Council. Robinson also holds a doctorate from Purdue University.

“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but there’s more work to do,” Robinson said. “Together, we can ensure Huntsville remains one of the best places in the country to live, work, and raise a family.”

The Huntsville municipal election is scheduled for Aug. 25. Robinson is the latest incumbent to formally announce plans to seek another term as the city prepares for this year’s municipal elections.

Voters will also be casting ballots for City Council Districts 2 and 4, as well as School Board Districts 2, 3, and 4.
