Swing for Shelter pairs green$ with Huntsville’s Downtown Rescue Mission

HUNTSVILLE – The Downtown Rescue Mission Swing for Shelter Golf Tournament has prizes worth $2,000 up for grabs, but the 18th annual event offers much more than that. The fixture fundraiser for the nonprofit organization affords participants the chance to make a difference in the lives of the homeless, poor and destitute within the Huntsville metro community.

The four-person scramble is May 24 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. Cost per team is $720, lunch included. The range and registration open at 7 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 8.

Organizers say the event offers a day “filled with golf, food, fun, side games, drawings and prizes.’’ They also invite becoming a sponsor to “help us provide for the homeless and hurting men, women and children, with warm meals three times a day, safe overnight shelter , and a chance to join the Biblically-based 12-month Life Recovery Program.’’
