HUNTSVILLE – The City of Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department is holding two events aimed at family fun beginning this weekend as the nation celebrates Parks and Recreation Month.
First up is Friday’s Splish Splash Bash at Brahan Spring Park, and the second is the inaugural Color Jam Family Fun Run & Walk set for July 20 at John Hunt Park. Both events are free.
At the Run & Walk, participants are encouraged to wear white with neon accessories to enhance their experience. They should also wear comfortable shoes and clothes suitable for liquids and powders.
“This is a new event for Huntsville and just one of the exciting activities we have planned for Parks and Recreation Month,” Huntsville Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said. “It merges physical activity with bright colors, offering a unique experience for families in our community.”
Upcoming events:
- Friday, 9-11 a.m.: Splish Splash Bash, Brahan Spring Park pavilion and Everybody Can Play splash pad
- July 20, 8-11 a.m.: Color Jam Family Fun Run & Walk at John Hunt Park.
The Run & Walk is billed as “a vibrant experience filled with laughter, fitness, community spirit and – most importantly – plenty of color.”
Runners and walkers will traverse the paved roads around the John Hunt Park Festival Grounds and be doused with vivid powders and sticky slime. The event also features giveaways, a grooving dance party and concessions available for purchase.
