HUNTSVILLE — The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is hosting 49 of the nation’s State Teachers of the Year at Space Camp, an annual experience for teachers selected from each state, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense, and four U.S. territories.

The Council of Chief State School Officers conducts the State Teachers of the Year program, which provides a year of professional learning and development opportunities to the honorees.

Teachers attending this year’s Space Academy for Educators program include Alabama Teacher of the Year Reggie White, a math and science teacher at Booker T. Washington K-8 School in Birmingham; and National Teacher of the Year, Rebecka Peterson, a high school math teacher from Oklahoma.
