HUNTSVILLE – Residents in Huntsville’s northern part of town have a new contest for the holiday season – Deck the District.

Devyn Keith, the energetic councilmember who represents District 1, is organizing the contest that will be open to residents living in that district. Residents from other city districts are eligible.

Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place entries and neighborhood bragging rights are on the line as well.

“One of the best parts of the holiday season is seeing how people decorate their homes,” Keith said. “This is a fun way for people to show pride in their community while spreading a little cheer.”

The council member encourages residents in his district to decorate with lights, inflatables and any other holiday ornaments to make spirits bright by going all out for the season.

To enter the contest, complete the entry form located at huntsvilleal.gov and attach photos. Information to include is first and last name, full address, phone number and reason why the entrant’s holiday display should be considered.

Deadline to enter is Dec. 14 with judging set for Dec. 15-18. The top three winners will receive acknowledgement at the Dec. 21 Huntsville City Council meeting.

Follow the District 1 Facebook page and the City of Huntsville’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for contest updates.
