Expect extra construction activity on I-565 near Exit 10/Toyota Field

(Alabama Department of Transportation Contributed)

MADISON — Motorists may notice increased activity Thursday morning on I-565 in Madison as contractors pour concrete for a massive foundation for the future westbound off-ramp at Exit 10.

The work is part of the Toyota Field-Town Madison flyover project.

Contractors excavated a huge hole in the median and tied steel bars to reinforce the concrete bridge footing that will be poured Thursday morning.

More than 40 truckloads of concrete are scheduled to be poured, surrounding the rebar and locking into the natural rock, according to engineering firm AECOM, which is overseeing construction for this City of Madison funded project.

Motorists are asked to reduce speed and remain alert for trucks entering or exiting the median of I-565. Please be prepared to stop or move over as needed.
