Hooray for Hollywood! CFD Research expands in Jackson County

HOLLYWOOD – A Huntsville company’s expansion in Hollywood came without a red carpet, fancy-dressed stars and no paparazzi.

After all, it was in Hollywood, Ala., just outside of Scottsboro, not Hollywood, Calif.

But, CFD Research’s ribbon-cutting Monday had its own stellar lineup to celebrate the opening of the facility at its Joel B. Everett Engineering Test Center in the Jackson County Industrial Park.

“This is a significant milestone for Jackson County and North Alabama,” said U.S. Rep. Dale Strong. “CFD Research’s growth strengthens our region’s economy and reinforces its role as a leader in advanced technology development.”

In addition to Strong (R-Monrovia), State Senate Majority Leader Steve Livingston, Scottsboro Mayor Jim McCamy, and Jackson County Economic Development Authority President Nathan Lee also participated in the event with CFD Research employee-owners and others.

At the heart of the expansion, which began with an Aug. 28, 2023 groundbreaking, is an advanced 19,000-square-foot facility that will house nearly 30 offices, largevconference room space, a second high-bay area, as well as classified meeting and storage areas.

“This expansion represents our continued investment in the future of CFD Research,” said CFD Research Corp. President & CEO Sameer Singhal. “The additional space will allow us to advance our engineering and testing capabilities, serve our customers more effectively, and continue our growth trajectory in alignment with the goals of our employee-owners.”

The new facility enhances CFD Research’s ability to support technology development and increases its testing capacity. It further solidifies the company’s commitment to innovation and its leadership in delivering cutting-edge solutions for the Aerospace & Defense, Biomedical & Life Sciences, Intelligence & Sensing, and Energy & Materials industries.

CFD Research’s footprint in Jackson County now spans 74 acres, including more than 31,500 square feet of high-bay, office, conference room, and classified spaces. The site is equipped with multiple test stands, including a 30-foot by 30-foot stand and a 60-foot by 60-foot stand.

Since opening in 2021, the center’s workforce has grown to 30 employees.

“This expansion highlights the impact of CFD Research on our community,” said Lee. “We are proud to support the company’s ongoing success and its commitment to innovation in Jackson County.”
