Huntsville Army Corp of Engineers center awards $500M contract for munitions disposal

HUNTSVILLE — The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ engineering and support center in Huntsville recently awarded a $500 million international remediation and environmental services – generation two multiple award task order contract to AECOM Technical Services; Global Environmental and Munitions Services; Janus Global Operations; Relyant Global Operations; and Tetra Tech EC.

Huntsville Center’s Ordnance and Explosives Directorate is designated as a Military Munitions Design Center for conventional munitions. It is the only design center authorized to execute any phase of Chemical Warfare Materiel response projects for the Corps of Engineers.

The task order will provide military munitions response services to safely dispose of munitions and explosives of concern; munitions constituents; chemical warfare material; biological waste and biological warfare materiel; and hazardous, toxic and radiological waste.

The contract calls for environmental compliance measures and other munitions-related support services. It will reduce DoD conventional munitions stockpiles and allow continued mission support for services to address munitions response concerns assigned to the Corps of Engineers.

The task order is a collection of tasks and actions across a specific time; this contract is for five years. It will be used to continue the execution of mission assignments outside the U.S. and outlying areas.
