Huntsville Music Office meetup to review milestones and look toward future

HUNTSVILLE – Excited about Huntsville’s thriving music scene?

Make plans to join the Huntsville Music Office’s Quarterly Music Meetup this week to find out what’s happening.

The free event Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at The Camp in the MidCity District, with concessions available for purchase.

It’s a perfect opportunity to network with local talent, stakeholders and industry professionals, including members of the Huntsville Music Board and Music Officer Matt Mandrella.

Mandrella said the meetup will include a review of 2024’s milestones and a glimpse into what’s to come. Highlights include a lineup of internationally renowned artists at The Orion, the Von Braun Center and the South Star Music Festival.

Although the second day of South Star was canceled due to inclement weather, Mandrella said there was success.

“We achieved the goal of introducing a new world-class festival experience to Huntsville with a lineup packed full of major talent,” Mandrella said. “Our partnership with C3 Presents has been invaluable, and we’re very excited about the future of this event.”

The Huntsville Music Office has also been expanding local artists’ reach. In September, the Rocket City Ramble sent six groups to Nashville to perform at ACME Feed & Seed as part of AMERICANAFEST, and in November, Huntsville artists performed at Universal Music Group’s East Iris Studios space in Nashville.

This year’s accomplishments also include Huntsville Music Month, which featured the second annual Launchpad Music Festival and continued celebrations for Women in Music Week.

Looking ahead, Mandrella said 2025 will be another landmark year for Huntsville’s music scene. He encourages the community to attend Tuesday’s Meetup to learn more about the exciting developments on the horizon.

“We’ve made tremendous strides this year on our path to becoming an international music destination,” Mandrella said. “This progress is thanks to the talented artists, the behind-the-scenes teams, the local venues and most importantly the dedicated fans who support the arts.

“There’s been a lot of excitement in the air all year, and we’re ready to keep that momentum going in 2025.”
