Navistar on deck for ribbon-cutting as powertrain plant expands

HUNTSVILLE – Mayor Tommy Battle and Alabama Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield are among the dignitaries scheduled to speak as Navistar holds a ribbon-cutting next week to
celebrate a recent expansion. The ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 18.

Navistar Big Bore Diesel Alabama recently added 110,000 square feet to its powertrain production plant in Jetplex Industrial Park at Huntsville International Airport.

Also set to speak are Huntsville Powertrain Plant Director of Production Brandon Tucker, Body Engineering Director Ryan Ludera, and Navistar Executive Vice President – Operation and Logistics Stefan Palmgren.

According to the Huntsville plant’s website, the state-of-the-art diesel engine manufacturing facility produces technologically advanced clean diesel engines. The company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities to produce next-generation, big-bore powertrains as part of the alliance with Traton SE, a truck and transport services company.

Navistar is based in Illinois and has more than 14,500 employees worldwide. Additional
