U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt announced his nominations of several students from Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District to attend U.S. Service Academies, recognizing their academic performance, leadership, and commitment to military service.

“Each of these young leaders has shown remarkable academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service,” Aderholt said. “I’m proud to nominate them for admission to our nation’s service academies and wish them continued success as they pursue lives of honor and duty.”

The nominations span three academies — the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy — and include students from across the district.

Nominees to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point include:
– Kate Seidel of Vinemont, a student at Indian Springs School; parent is Dr. Steven Seidel
– Anglin Young of Tuscaloosa, a student at Northridge High School; parents are Brett and Laura Young
– Cooper Scott of Albertville, a student at Albertville High School; parents are Chuck and Beth Rigsby

Nominees to the U.S. Naval Academy include:
– Ferrin Thorne of Northport, a student at Tuscaloosa County High School; parents are Derek and Valerie Thorne
– Eleanor Little of Northport, a homeschool student; parents are Justin and Ashley Little
– Ayden Gargis of Killen, a student at Brooks High School; parents are Wesley and Bethany Gargis

Anglin Young was also nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy and has already received acceptance notifications from both West Point and the Air Force Academy, according to the announcement.

Service academy nominations are competitive and are based on academic achievement, character, leadership ability, and demonstrated interest in serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Students interested in applying for a future nomination may contact Aderholt’s office or visit his official website for additional information.
