Helping patients recover from chronic and hard-to-heal wounds has earned Huntsville Hospital‘s Wound Care Center national recognition.
The center recently received a 2025 Center of Distinction award from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award recognizes wound care centers that achieve strong clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction over a 12-month period.
Huntsville Hospital’s Wound Care Center specializes in treating wounds that have resisted healing, including circulation-related skin ulcers, diabetic foot wounds, surgical wounds that have not fully closed, pressure sores and traumatic injuries.
Patients receive care from a team that includes specialty physicians, certified wound care nurses, registered nurses, a nutritionist and a physical therapist. After an assessment, the center develops an individualized treatment plan for each patient.
The center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a treatment that uses pressurized oxygen to help certain infections and wounds heal. According to Huntsville Hospital, the therapy can be used for wounds related to diabetes and some radiation injuries.
In announcing the award, Huntsville Hospital said the recognition reflects the dedication, compassion and expertise of the physicians, nurses and staff members who care for patients every day.
The Wound Care Center is located at 2012 Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville. According to Huntsville Hospital, patients are enrolled through physician referrals.
