MDW awarded $21.7M DARPA comptroller SETA support contract

ARLINGTON, Va. — MDW, a professional services and data analytics solutions provider, is been awarded a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Comptroller SETA Support prime contract, the company announced.

The five-year, $21,753.845 contract’s period of performance is from Nov. 18, 2024, to Nov. 17, 2029, with a six-month option.

MDW, which has an office in Huntsville’s Cummings Research Park, will provide professional System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to DARPA’s Comptroller at its Arlington, Va., headquarters, according to a MDW news release.

DARPA’s business philosophy is to bring in expert, entrepreneurial program managers for the technical programs, empower them, protect them from red tape, and to quickly make decisions about starting, continuing or stopping research projects.

MDW will be involved in resolving these complex problems by researching regulations, policies, procedures and designing solutions for processing transactions resulting from DARPA’s unique business operations process.

“I am tremendously proud of our team that supports DARPA,” said President and CEO Tim Wilde. “The selection of MDW to continue the efforts we began in 2019 show our dedication to this advanced research mission.

“(CFO) Lee Dixson and I first met at DARPA in 1999, and along with MDW’s engagements with other technology-advanced clients, such as MDA, NASA and NSWC-Crane, truly makes this a full-circle moment.”

DARPA procured its Comptroller SETA requirement using the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) Analytical and Technical Support Services (ATSS) multiple award indefinite-delivery /indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract. The ATSS vehicle is available to the Office of the Secretary of Defense and DoD Fourth Estate organizations to meet their support services requirements.

Under the WHS ATSS IDIQ, MDW is the only company to be awarded a prime contract for  the Small Business and Unrestricted Pools. The ATSS vehicle was awarded in December 2022 with a $1.5 billion contract ceiling.

“This is an important ‘first win’ for MDW under the ATSS vehicle,” Wilde said. “We look forward to actively competing on other ATSS procurement opportunities and offering services and solutions to meet OSD and DoD Fourth Estate clients’ missions.”
