MidCity District is moving forward with a new round of infrastructure upgrades and business additions as the mixed-use development continues expanding its footprint in Huntsville.
District leaders announced plans for major improvements at Plaza MidCity, including a redesign of the parking area intended to improve traffic flow, pedestrian access and overall visitor experience.
According to MidCity officials, the revamped parking layout is designed to better handle increasing visitor traffic while creating safer and more accessible connections throughout the entertainment and retail district.
The announcement also highlighted upcoming improvements to Old Monrovia Road after the City of Huntsville approved plans to advance reconstruction of the corridor near MidCity.
The project is expected to add landscaped medians, decorative lighting and multi-use paths aimed at creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment and improving connectivity throughout the district.
MidCity officials said the roadway upgrades will help strengthen access between Plaza MidCity and surrounding neighborhoods while supporting continued growth in the area.
The district also announced several new additions to its tenant lineup.
Fitness concepts X4 Fitness and GF Fitness are joining Plaza MidCity, alongside Maitland Conservatory, a Huntsville-based arts academy focused on music, visual arts and sound production training.
MidCity leaders said the additions further expand the district’s mix of retail, entertainment and lifestyle offerings.
The 140-acre MidCity redevelopment, built on the former Madison Square Mall site, is projected to include residential units, hotels, office space and large-scale public gathering areas centered around entertainment venues including The Orion Amphitheater.
