As it marks a decade of operations in Huntsville, Polaris is investing in the future of outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship across North Alabama through a new grant program administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.
The powersports manufacturer announced the creation of the Think Outside Grant, a new funding initiative that will provide grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 for nonprofit organizations working to expand outdoor recreation opportunities and protect natural resources throughout the region.
The grant program is designed to support projects that help residents connect with nature while preserving the landscapes and outdoor spaces that make North Alabama a destination for recreation and adventure.
“Every June, we celebrate the spirit of adventure during Great Outdoors Month,” said Jason Pickering, vice president of plant operations for Polaris Huntsville. “This year, Polaris Huntsville is taking it even further; we’re not just enjoying the ride, we’re protecting the places that make it possible.”
Pickering said the grant is both a celebration of the company’s 10-year presence in Huntsville and a long-term investment in the community.
“To celebrate our 10th anniversary in the Rocket City, we are launching the new Think Outside Grant,” he said. “This initiative is more than a celebration. It’s a commitment to strengthening our connection with the local community and inspiring more people to experience the thrill of riding the way we do.”
As part of the program, grant applicants must incorporate National Get Outdoors Day 2027 into their project plans.
The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville will administer the fund and oversee the grant application and award process.
Melissa Thompson, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to enhancing quality of life throughout the region.
“Polaris has been an important part of our community for nearly a decade, and we are honored to partner with them on this exciting new initiative,” Thompson said. “The Think Outside Grant represents the very best of corporate philanthropy. It aligns a company’s values with meaningful local impact.”
Thompson said investments in outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship help preserve assets that benefit residents and visitors alike.
“By investing in outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship, Polaris is helping to ensure that future generations can enjoy and appreciate the natural assets that make North Alabama such a special place to live, work and play,” she said.
Polaris opened its Huntsville manufacturing facility in 2016 and has grown into one of the region’s major manufacturers. The company is a global leader in powersports vehicles and outdoor recreation products.
